Aerosol therapy can be used to treat chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as acute infectious illnesses such as pneumonia.
In aerosol therapy, a nebuliser (or aerosol) is used to break down the medication into a mist of drug droplets. When the patient inhales, these droplets pass through the mouth, down the trachea, into the bronchi, and then directly into the alveoli.
For the home treatment of chronic respiratory disorders, Linde Healthcare provides:
• Aerosol generators.
• Hand-held nebulisers.
• Respiratory medications for asthma (in selected markets).
